This visit will be followed by the discovery of the distillation of the MCPS (Sociéte Products Perfume of Madagascar) founded by the missionary Fathers in 1889, and world’s largest producer of ylang-ylang, with modern stills.
It was baptized in honor of the captain Pierre Passot , the French Navy who annexed the island of Nosy Be to France in 1841 . The altitude of Mount Passot is 326 meters.
The excursion generally includes snorkelling, swimming and a good lunch on board the boat.
The map of the island strangely looks like a giant turtle, it is surrounded by volcanic rocks, protecting shores from rough waters.
Nosy Komba is known for its many small and inhabited beaches as well as for its emerald like water. Nosy komba is a small jewel of nature, increasingly visited and becoming a mirror of its larger neighbor, Nosy Be.
It is home to many Makis, a variety of lemurians also called Macaco.
It is a protected marine reserve and one of the best snorkelling sites in the area, with coral, numerous fish and sea turtles.
A beautiful lagoon is not due to chance. In fact Tanikely is a marine national park or a protected reserve and the fish can breed without the risk of fishing & hunting under navy. You will then be able to observe all the fauna of the tropics, and especially of sea turtles and groupers that you see 3 times out of 4 !
The reserve is mostly known for the black lemur. Unfortunately only few are left. These lemurs are real beauties. The females are not black at all, but beautifully reddish brown.
Apart from the back lemur, there are other nocturnal species such as the Gray-backed sportive lemur and some mouse lemurs.
Lokobe is also home to some endemic birds like the Madagascar pygmy kingfisher or the Madagascar long-eared owl, to spectacular panther-chameleons, local endemic frogs and several snakes.
