Common questions
Everything you need to know before booking. If your question isn't answered here, contact us directly, we're happy to help.
What is the best time of year to visit Nosy Be?

April to November is considered the dry season and the most popular time to visit. The sea is calmer, visibility for diving is excellent, and fishing is at its best. December to March is the wet season, warmer and lusher, but some seas can be rough and certain outer banks may be inaccessible.

Do you cater for shared charters?

No, all our yacht charters are exclusively for your group. We do not place strangers together on shared vessels. Your boat, your crew, your itinerary.

Can you arrange the flights as part of the package?

Yes. We can assist with booking flights via our airline partner Airlink, who operate direct routes from Johannesburg to Nosy Be. Flights can be included as part of a full package.

What experience level is needed for fishing?

None at all for casual and reef fishing, our guides handle everything. For serious big game fishing on the outer banks, some experience is helpful but not required. Our crew are expert at guiding first timers to their first marlin or sailfish.

What certification do I need to dive?

A PADI Open Water certificate (or equivalent) is required for most reef dives. Advanced certification is needed for deeper dive sites such as Grand Banc and the wrecks. Introductory / discover scuba dives can be arranged for complete beginners at shallower sites.

Is Nosy Be safe to visit?

Nosy Be is generally safe for tourists. Like any destination, normal travel precautions apply. We provide all guests with a comprehensive briefing on local customs and safe areas before arrival. All our transfers and guides are vetted and trusted partners we have worked with for years.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and required for any diving activities. We can arrange cover through our insurance partners as part of your package. See the Insurance section below for details.

What currency is used and can I use cards?

The local currency is the Malagasy Ariary (MGA). Euros and US Dollars are widely accepted at tourist establishments. Card payment is available at larger hotels but cash is king for markets, local restaurants and tips. We advise bringing sufficient euros or dollars in cash.
